Missouri Corn, ethanol plant manager testify to EPA

A Missouri farmer, on behalf of the Missouri Corn Growers Association, testified before the EPA in Michigan, saying the agency’s proposed biofuels rule falls short of its pledge.

Jay Schutte farms near Mexico, Missouri says the 15-Billion-gallon promise made by the President to farmers must be upheld by the EPA, “EPA must, at a minimum, use the average of actual waived volumes from the three previous compliance years as the basis for estimating future waivers in the RVS volume rule.”

Brian Pasbrig, general manager of the Show Me Ethanol plant in Carrollton, Missouri says the EPA’s handling of the Renewable Fuels Standard and small refinery waivers is like Lucy getting Charlie Brown make the kick in the Great Pumpkin movie, “She gives all kinds of promises, makes all kinds of assurances. Charlie Brown finally gives up, makes a big run, and she pulls the ball away at the very end and Charlie Brown hits the ground hard. I’m here to tell you that our shareholders, our employees and the farmers we support feel like Charlie Brown.”

Pasbrig says EPA supports fossil fuel interests regardless of the impact on human health and the environment.

Pasbrig says the agencies decisions hurt shareholders and employees when trade wars and flooding are also hurting them.
