Minnesota Farmers Union continues call for lower healthcare costs

Many farm families are burdened by the high cost of healthcare.

Minnesota Farmers Union president Gary Wertish says his organization continues to ask the state legislature for solutions.

“We spent a lot of time on healthcare last year and got some things moving forward (like) the MinnesotaCare buy in. But that’s another thing we want to stay on top of that because healthcare costs, as we all know, are just not sustainable for farmers. And it really hits farmers and small business owners the hardest.”

One of the special orders passed by MFU during its convention in late November was to ensure affordable and accessible healthcare in rural Minnesota.
