Minnesota farmer making “tremendous progress” this week

Planting conditions are steadily improving in southern Minnesota.

Tim Waibel of Courtland says it was extremely wet and cold in April.

“So we didn’t start planting until this week Monday, but we’ve made tremendous progress since then.”

Speaking to Brownfield Friday, he said corn planting should be done in about two days.

“And then we’ve got all of our beans (to plant), so we’re in pretty good shape. It’s been sprinkling up here on and off this morning, but we’ve been able to keep rolling right through it.”

Waibel says the moisture is welcome because it’s been very dry.
