Minnesota crop condition ratings remain high

Minnesota crop condition ratings remain among the highest in the U.S.

The latest weekly USDA report shows 85 percent of corn and 81 percent of soybeans are either good or excellent as of Sunday.

Nationally, 72 percent of corn and 70 percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent.

Reports of corn silking and soybeans blooming have started to come in across the state.

Spring wheat jointing is nearly 75 percent, five days ahead of last year but two days behind the five-year average.  Eighty-one percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

The first cutting of alfalfa is 88 percent complete with 63 percent of the hay crop rated good to excellent statewide.
