Minnesota ag groups excited about sustainable aviation fuels

Minnesota agriculture groups are excited about sustainable aviation fuels.

Minnesota Farmers Union president Gary Wertish says it’s exciting to think about the market potential of sustainable aviation fuels.

“That’s one thing that is really exciting. Governor Walz is really on board with that, and we’ve had discussions with Delta Airlines and Greater Minneapolis and they’re pushing real hard.”

Minnesota Soybean Growers president Bob Worth tells Brownfield one of the Association’s resolutions for 2024 is to make sure soybean oil is considered a primary feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel.

“We have talked to the people from Delta and Greater MSP about this, and it’s going to be an exciting adventure when we go forward because they’re going to need a lot of product.”

Wertish says he wants Minnesota to take the lead as the sustainable aviation fuel market grows.

Wertish and Worth spoke to Brownfield during the 2024 MN Ag Expo in Mankato Wednesday.
