Michigan Soybean Committee rebranding & moving

Michigan’s soybean checkoff is planning for a year of change in 2021.

Executive Director Janna Fritz says they’re starting the year with a new name, the Michigan Soybean Committee.

“We have dropped the word ‘promotion,’” she says.  “Of course we still are promoting soybeans in the state, but we also have our research development areas, our market development areas, as well as general communications efforts.”

After nearly a year of working remoting, the organization is also rethinking the needs of a physical office space.

“We have packed our bags and are headed to St. Johns, we are moving into the beautiful AgroLiquid corporate headquarters,” she says.

Staff will continue working from home and Fritz says the new space will work as a centrally located meeting place for their board and others.  The checkoff will also be able to work with the IQhub in the facility which is an interactive agricultural museum open for tours and school groups.

This year the checkoff has also hired an outreach specialist and plans to continue providing educational sessions for farmers virtually with a new grain marketing series starting in late February in partnership with the corn and wheat checkoffs.

  • Congratulations! I consider this great news for the Michigan Soybean farmer and industry. Thank you for all that you do for the Michigan growers.
