Michigan FFA Alumni paying it forward
The Michigan FFA Alumni Association has raised nearly $200,000 in the last three years from an annual raffle.
Executive director Burt Henry tells Brownfield the proceeds are supporting youth leadership development.
“We’re building future leaders not only for our industry but for our nation,” he says.
He says nearly 9,000 tickets were sold this year with close to $40,000 staying at the chapter level.
Henry says local support for agricultural educators helps programs thrive.
“They’re terribly important from so many different aspects, and can take a good program to a great program pretty quickly and pretty easily,” he says.
FFA advisor Tony McCaul at Careerline Tech Center in Holland won this year’s grand prize for a John Deere gator during the Michigan FFA state convention.
