Meteorologist: La Nina could help replenish soil moisture this winter

Brownfield Ag Meteorologist Greg Soulje says the La Nina weather pattern should help replenish soil moisture in parts of the Midwest this winter.

“I think it will be a quick ramping up of a more active and moisture-laden weather pattern throughout much of the plains and much of the corn belt locales including the drier areas,” he says.

And he says early snowfall in some areas could also help…”Across the Dakotas and far upper Midwest, and western Great Lakes region,” he says.

Soulje says he’s anticipating above average precipitation and cooler temperatures because of the La Nina weather pattern.
