Meet the new MO State Fair director

The new director of the Missouri State Fair says his top priority will be keeping the 10-day event fresh and new.

Jason Moore, the current facilities manager at the state fair, tells Brownfield it will take continued collaboration with the entire agriculture industry to make that happen.

“Obviously, working with 4-H and FFA groups and commodity partners to put on the best livestock shows we can and continue that focus with exhibitors.”

The 2023 state fair had record attendance, that’s an increase of 2.5% from the previous year, with livestock competition and entry numbers contributing to the record. He says the mindset to keep the trend going is there and…

“We try to offer a little something for everybody.”

Moore says there’s also a campground expansion, more parking and the new Missouri State Fair arena coming.

“I think 5 to 10 years from now, you’ll look at a state fair that’s completely different from where we are now.”

Moore will replace current director Mark Wolfe when he retires at the end of the year. The 2024 Missouri State Fair will be August 8 – 18 in Sedalia.
