March mostly wet, but issues remain in parts of Michigan
March was a little wetter than normal in Michigan.
The USDA says statewide precipitation was more than four tenths of an inch above normal, improving soil moisture in much of the state.
That’s except for a patch in the southeast Thumb, which is still reporting conditions ranging from abnormally dry to moderate drought.
Temperatures were near average with a few freeze and thaw events during the month.
61% of Michigan’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent shape, 4% below a month ago, with part of the crop still dormant.
Maple syrup is expected to run for a couple more weeks.
