MAC open for harvest deliveries

Michigan Agricultural Commodities has started accepting their first deliveries of soybeans this week as harvest begins.

Robert Geers is Vice President of Merchandising.

“Right now, they’re pretty dry as guys are going after some earlier varieties with the heat that we’ve seen,” he shares.

He tells Brownfield there is premium in corn from end users trying to bridge supplies between old and new crop, but unfortunately harvest is running behind in the state.

“If anyone’s got some early varieties ready to go, I think there’s some demand for guys to go out and get some early corn, we’re just not seeing much activity there yet,” he shares.

Geers says he expects corn yields to average between the mid-170s to 180 bushels per acre which could mean near record production this year.

MAC is Michigan’s largest grain handler operating seven elevators across the state.
