A lot of planting progress

Farmers taking part in Get Growing, Brownfield’s next series of Cab Conversations say last week’s weather gave them an opportunity to get a lot of work done in the field.  East Central Indiana farmer Dave Lowe says he just needed to be patient.  “The ground is in good shape,” he says.  “We’re planting both corn and beans with a lot of progress going on in the eastern side of Indiana.”

Illinois farmer Judi Graff says they’ve not really had too many delays.  “We started beans last Monday,” she says.  “We’re just trying to plow through the acres and trying to keep the planter going.  We broke down a little the first day.”

South Dakota’s Keith Alverson says the weather has them at a standstill right now.  “We’re right on the verge of completing planting corn on our farm,” he says.  “We got a little shower last night and another little shower this morning and its forecasted to rain sporadically the next day or so.  It’s just enough to hold us out of the field.
