Local tire dealer a key resource for farmers

A leader with an agricultural tire manufacturer strongly encourages farmers to work with a local dealer.

Ryan Loethen is president of CEAT North America.

“Get with the right local dealer, a guy you trust. A guy who has been in the business for a long time, a guy who takes the time to weigh your tractor because that’s important. Because he’s going to weigh your tractor and tell you the air pressure you need to run.”

Speaking to Brownfield at the Farm Progress Show near Boone, Iowa, he suggests weighing the tractor when fitting new tires is non-negotiable.

“If he doesn’t offer to weigh your tractor and help you set your psi, go to somebody else. Because if he is not doing that, he does not understand the ag business.”

Loethen says a good tire dealer should account for variables like the weight of the tractor, weight of the implement, soil composition, and road percentage versus field percentage when making psi recommendations.
