Legacy Seeds acquired by investment firm

A Michigan investment company has announced its second acquisition of an independent regional seed company.

Tillerman Seeds has acquired Wisconsin-based Legacy Seeds Inc. which produces alfalfa, corn, wheat, soybeans and cover crop seeds.

The deal will buy out the ownership but maintain operations and all jobs in Wisconsin and Idaho.

Legacy Seeds will collaborate with mid-Michigan based DF Seeds on research and development. DF Seeds was acquired by Tillerman Seeds this past November.

Tillerman Seeds says they intend to purchase small seed companies with an established regional presence or specialty products and operate acquired companies as standalone entities.
