Large farmland auction scheduled in Northwest Wisconsin

A large farmland auction is taking place in northwest Wisconsin next month.

Compeer Financial real estate appraiser Stephanie Stallman says a private investor group is selling 75 tracts encompassing over 5,000 acres in Barron, Dunn, Chippewa, and Polk counties.

“They’ll be offering them all at auction in-person and online both, so that’s going to be pretty significant in our markets.”

She tells Brownfield the sellers purchased the land about ten years ago and have made improvements including drainage tile and irrigation.

“And then they rent it back to local operators, so a lot of people are going to be looking to get some of that land if they can, expand their operations or continue operations like they had in the past.”

She says the sale will surely create some waves in that land market.

Stallman made these comments during a Compeer appraisal podcast, a content partnership with Brownfield.
