Krone relocates US headquarters to Indiana

KroneLess than a week after Indiana landed Walmart’s first dairy processing facility, Krone North America announced its plans to relocate its company’s US headquarters to Shelbyville, Ind.

Indiana Department of Agriculture director Ted McKinney says this is another big win for the state’s economy.  “For Indiana, which typically hasn’t been known as a big ag equipment manufacturing or assembly state, to land this one really adds to the diversity of Indiana agriculture,” he says.  “For that we’re really grateful to the Krone family.”

He tells Brownfield the facility will create more than 100 jobs over the next 5 years.

McKinney says Indiana’s dairy strategy played a role in the decision to relocate to the state.  “They’re not just focused on Indiana, but to the degree we’re growing our dairy industry and we’re friendly to livestock, dairy, and the ag sector, that certainly weighed into their decision,” he says.  “They want to go, and did go, where they are embraced and there is a welcoming ag climate.”

Krone’s line of hay and forage products include high-capacity mower conditioners, disc mowers, rotary tedders and rakes, round balers, large square balers, and a full range of forage harvesters.

Construction is set to begin in early 2017.
