Iowa harvest near finish line, agronomist says

An extension agronomist says yields have been a mixed bag in Iowa.

Meaghan Anderson is with Iowa State University. “In a lot of areas people were pleasantly surprised with the yields that they got,” she said. “There were some other pockets that were so persistently dry through the growing season that I think yields were definitely tamped down.”

She tells Brownfield harvest is nearly finished. “There is just a little bit left, but I’d say for the most part we are wrapped up,” Anderson said. “We got a lot of work done ahead of that nice rainfall we got and we will be able to come back and finish up a little bit of corn.”

Anderson says some recent rains will help subsoils for next growing season.
