Iowa farmland values increase

Iowa farmland values increased 1.7 percent over the past year, according to the annual Iowa State University land value survey.

The statewide average is 7,559 dollars per acre, ranging from 9,068 for high-quality land to 5,078 for low-quality land. The average for high-quality land was flat with last year, while low-quality and medium-quality land showed increases.

Survey coordinators attributed the overall increase to favorable interest rates, a strong demand for land, substantial government payments and this fall’s commodity price rallies.
