Iowa farmer says planting season will be here soon

A southeast Iowa farmer says producers are eager for the 2023 planting season.

Logan Lyon raises row crops and cattle in Muscatine and Scott counties. “Planters are starting to get hooked up and moved to the shop so they can get oil changed and things brushed off.”

He tells Brownfield his area looks good on the latest drought monitor.

“It’s been good to see tile lines running,” Lyon said. “I think our subsoil moisture is getting refilled with some good rains. We’ve had a couple of two-inch overnight rains in our area over the last month.”

Lyon says expectations are high for the 2023 crop.
