Illinois harvest close to finished

Scattered rain and cooler temperatures hampered the Illinois harvest last week.  USDA reporters say there were 4.3 days that were suitable for fieldwork.  Even with between one and two inches of rain in most of Illinois, nearly a quarter of the state is still short on topsoil moisture.

As of Sunday, 80% of the state’s corn for grain is harvested, which is up from only 66% harvested a week ago.

Ninety percent of the soybeans are done.

Illinois farmers have 89% of the winter wheat planted, and 57% of the crop is already emerging.
