Illinois FFA planning hybrid state convention

The anxiously awaited dates and schedule for the 2021 Illinois State FFA Convention have been announced.

“Every good corn seed is a HYBRID, and that is what our convention is going to be!”

State President Lexi Mueller tells Brownfield convention will start with a virtual business session on May 28th followed by regional award recognition in-person at outdoor locations in Normal on June 1st , Carbondale on June 4th and Springfield on June 9th. June 8th and 10th will be state convention days at the Illinois State Fair Grandstands for events like Stars over Illinois recognition and officer elections.

“Some schools aren’t allowed to travel yet; some schools aren’t allowed to stay overnight. We wanted to provide opportunities that are spread out that way there are smaller groups of people in each spot, and we wanted to keep some events regional to include more people in the area.”

She says they are excited to bring back the energy and passion experienced at live FFA events.

“You don’t get to see that over a screen, and we know that the sessions we will be putting on will have an energy unlike any other convention in Illinois FFA history simply because you don’t know what you are missing until it is gone, and we have it back now.”

She says since these decisions were just made this week, there is a lot of planning left to do and everything is subject to change, but they are excited to get to work.
