Hypoxia Task Force ask USDA and EPA for continued partnership

The 12 state members of the Hypoxia Task Force have asked USDA and EPA leaders in the Biden administration for continued partnership and support.

Their letter, sent by task force co-chair and Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig, says there’s a lot of conservation work going on in the Mississippi River Basin and it’s critical to continue state-led, federally-supported efforts that let each state implement nutrient-reduction practices tailored to their individual needs and landscapes.

The 12 states and five federal agencies work to reduce nutrient runoff throughout the Mississippi River basin and reduce the size of the hypoxic zone in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
