Holstein convention underway

Wisconsin is hosting the Holstein Association USA National Convention. One of this year’s conference organizers is Krista Knigge, who tells Brownfield the event is a combination of business and activities. “The annual meeting started this morning, and then this afternoon, we’re kicking off the genetics conference, which will go this afternoon, and then we have our sale this evening. Tomorrow, the genetics conference continues in the morning.”

Knigge says the genetics conference is a new addition to the convention.  “It’s meant to help people learn and grow their abilities, and learn about the technologies that are helping to advance our dairy industry.”

More than 12-hundred farmers, breeders, and experts from 38 states and 19 countries are attending the convention, including more than 300 youth participants. Knigge says this year has the second-largest attendance since 2000.
