Harvest underway for Tennessee farmers

Harvest is underway for some Tennessee farmers and they are optimistic about yields.  Corn is 5% harvested with 45% mature and 73% rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are rated 77% good to excellent with 18% dropping leaves. Cotton is rated 75% good to excellent with 18% of bolls opening.

Pastures are rated 70% good to excellent.  The recent dry spell has helped farmers bale and put up hay.

Tobacco is 42% cut and 72% of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

Topsoil is 77% and subsoil is 81% adequate to surplus.
