Grassley comments on Vilsack reports

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he would be happy to have Tom Vilsack return as U.S. Agriculture Secretary.

“Two reasons—one, he understands the role of the family farmer and the importance of that institution in the production of food,” Grassley says. “And he’s very aware of the importance of biofuels to the health of agriculture.”

Grassley was reacting to media reports that President-elect Joe Biden may pick Vilsack to return as head of the USDA.

Vilsack currently serves as president of the U.S. Dairy Export Council. He was also a top rural and ag policy adviser to the Biden campaign.

Grassley made his comments in a conference call with reporters.
