Global Dairy Trade index has first increase since February

The Global Dairy Trade index went up for the first time since early February.  Tuesday’s index rose 3.2% with an average price of $3,362 per metric ton.

None of the dairy commodities offered had a price decrease in Tuesday’s trading session.

Skim milk powder was up 7% at $2,776 per ton or $1.25 per pound.

Cheddar cheese prices were up 5.7% at $4,411 per ton or $2.00 per pound.

Butter was up 4.9% to $4,821 per ton or $2.18 per pound.

Anhydrous milk fat rose 4.7% to $4,981 per ton or $2.25 per pound.

Whole milk powder gained 1% to $3,089 per ton or $1.40 per pound.

Lactose, butter milk powder, and sweet whey powder were not traded Tuesday.

There were 158 bidders with 105 buyers in 19 rounds of trading Tuesday.
