After serving as CEO of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture for seven years, Barb Glenn has announced she will retire from the position this fall.

She says it has been an honor to serve state ag departments and amplify their unified voice in D.C. she says NASDA members are uniquely positioned to lead agriculture toward a healthy and resilient world, and she’s proud of the member value NASDA’s team created during her time as CEO.

Glenn has worked in the agriculture industry for her entire 40-year career. After retiring, she plans to stay involved with agriculture and continue volunteer work with the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation Board, the Howard County Maryland 4-H Foundation Board, and chairing the Maryland Farm Bureau Agriculture Education and Extension Committee. She also plans to spend more time on Glenn Family Farm.

NASDA President Ryan Quarles says Glenn has used her unique perspective to advocate for state ag departments and has worked tirelessly to benefit all who rely on agriculture and leave a legacy for the industry to follow.

Glenn will remain in her position as NASDA CEO through early fall and will assist with the transition.

  • Congratualtions Barb for an uncompromising, and incredibly impactful career, starting from research to industry, and on to government and policy! I have had the honor and good luck to work with you, and to witness your countless examples on the job and as a volunteer promoting and supporting agriculture, and most important, leading and facilitating the people working in agriculture; including me! I, and my family wish you many years of happy retirement – and no doubt – you will keep as busy as ever! Congratulations Barb, job well done!!

  • From the outset of Ionization Labs joining NASDA – National Association of State Departments of Agriculture as an Industry Partner, the staff and Barb Glenn were the most supportive and welcoming of associations. My personal interface with Barb has been one of kind and generous use of time. Her leadership during this most challenging of times with COVID has illustrated her keen ability to lead during a crisis with one of the hardest-hit industries in our nation. I am sorry to see her leave NASDA and hope to have the opportunity to interface with her someday in a new capacity. Best wishes to you Barb! Thank you for being so good to all of us! You are appreciated and will be missed. – Cree Crawford – Founder • President, Ionization Labs
