Federation seeks to loosen ties with NCBA

The Federation of State Beef Councils has begun the process of loosening its ties with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).

At this summer’s cattle industry conference in Denver, Federation directors passed a resolution calling for the Federation to “operate in a more independent structure while maintaining the synergies and efficiencies of the current relationship” with NCBA.  A Federation Structure Working Group met recently to begin working on recommendations. 

Once the recommendations have been finalized, they must be approved by Federation directors.  A vote on the matter is expected to take place during the cattle industry convention in Denver in February 2011.
