February could be a pivotal month for the farm bill.

House Agriculture Committee member Brad Finstad says he’s hopeful the farm bill can emerge from budget negotiations in Congress.

“Watching the appropriations process and conversation I think is going to be the first step. When we see positive movement on that and some time certain deadlines that are met, that will hopefully be the sign that the gate is going to get opened.”

The Minnesota Republican tells Brownfield farm bill negotiators are prepared to move quickly.

“So I would say the month of February is going to be very crucial in regard to just the functionality of government and Congress.”
