Farmer says ag equipment made all the difference this year

A central Ohio farmer says having the right equipment on his combine helped reduce harvest challenges this year.

Anthony Bush says by using a draper head he was able to harvest his very dry soybean crop with minimal loss and delays.

“We haven’t hardly cut a load of beans yet that was over 11 percent moisture. This is a situation where a draper head makes all the difference in the world and there’s enough enough adjustments you can make on those and control it to a minimum,” he says. “Had we not had that we would have had to wait a little bit or wait until we got rain.”

He tells Brownfield he faced other setbacks this fall. Bush says he would be finished harvesting soybeans if not for a small combine fire that shut him down for a few days.

“Anybody who has a combine with DEF on it knows that if that system isn’t right, you’re not going anywhere,” he says.

Despite the challenges, he says his soybean crop is looking good with yields between 50 and 70.

Bush is back in the fields and says he has a day left of harvesting soybeans and then will move on to corn.
