Farmer needs rain after a wet spring
After a wet spring that delayed some planting, an eastern Missouri farmer is now concerned about dry weather.
Warren Stemme tells Brownfield Ag News a lot of farmers in his area need rain, especially for corn, “It’s all pollinating now so, obviously, a little rain and cooler weather would be much appreciated.”
Stemme stays there’s an 80% chance of rain for his area tomorrow,
“We’re seeing corn roll up on the sandier, drought spots in the field so we definitely need it.”
Last year was a complete washout for his crops. “This year is still challenging but much better than last year. Last year was almost a complete disaster for us with all the rain we had and subsequent internal flooding.”
Stemme says they finally got the rest of their beans planted last week and finished wheat harvest. Stemme farms in St. Louis County, Missouri.
