Farmer improves soil health with rotational grazing

A western Indiana farmer says rotational grazing has improved soil health on his farm.

Rick Clark is in his second year of using a high-intensive grazing system for cattle.

“It’s unbelievable what the cattle can do to your acre of ground in just a year’s time,” he says. “Now that we’re seeing how the soil is changing it’s huge and has to be part of the system.”

He tells Brownfield It may not work on every farming operation but…“If you have the ability to build some fence and get the infrastructure, I would highly recommend it and get some cattle on your farm.”

Clark is a fifth-generation farmer from Warren County.
