Farm bill talks continue

The top House Ag Committee leaders are back at the bargaining table today, working on the farm bill.

Republican Chairman Mike Conaway and Democrat Collin Peterson, who will become the chairman in January, are scheduled to talk about possible compromises while most of Washington is off for the federal Veteran’s Day holiday.

The biggest disagreement continues to be work requirements for able-bodied adults participating in the SNAP program.  There is also disagreement on possible price and yield reporting changes for the ARC and PLC programs. And, on conservation programs.

Both Conaway and Peterson have said they are committed to getting a farm bill done before the end of the year.
