Ethanol production, supply down on week

U.S. ethanol production and stocks both moved lower last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 986,000 barrels a day, the lowest weekly average since early May and down 27,000 barrels on the week, but up 68,000 on the year when production was limited by uncertainties about demand.

The supply of 22.276 million barrels was the tightest in about a month, and a decrease of 373,000 from the previous week, but an increase of 2.526 million from a year ago.

The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs by refiners and blenders and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market were below the week before, but above last year.

The USDA says ethanol prices were mostly higher.
