Early harvest activity underway in Iowa

Scattered harvest activity got underway in Iowa last week, although widespread harvest action is still a week or two away.

The latest crop progress report says 30 percent of Iowa’s corn crop had reached maturity as of Sunday, six days behind average. Thirty-one percent of soybeans were dropping leaves, one day behind average.

The good to excellent condition ratings for corn and soybeans both declined slightly—down to 59 percent for corn and 58 percent for soybeans.
