Duvall hopeful milk order hearing brings positive changes

The President of the American Farm Bureau Federation says he’s hopeful the USDA hearing on the Federal Milk Marketing Order system leads to some modernization to benefit farmers.  Zippy Duvall tells Brownfield ending voluntary processor price audits would help. We think that those audits ought to be mandatory for every, every processor and we think that would bring fairness and transparency to the system.”

Duvall says there are dairy issues Farm Bureau is interested in, with some in the federal orders and other issues that can be addressed with legislation. “If you want to link that to the farm bill, we want to make sure that those risk management tools that’s been made available for dairy producers in the last two farm bills continue to improve and be even better in the future.”

Duvall spoke to Brownfield during the recent Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois.
