Drought continues to impact Kansas wheat

Wheat conditions in Kansas got slightly worse in March.

The USDA says 52% of the wheat crop in Kansas is in poor to very condition, up 1% from the end of February, with 19% rated good to excellent, unchanged on the month.

That’s due to continued very dry to extreme drought conditions in much of the state and while there have been improvements in the past few months, soil moisture is below last year’s levels.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume Monday, April 3rd.
