Don’t force the broccoli with kids

Researchers say a group of vegetables can taste especially bitter to children for a reason. A study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry says a microbiome in saliva when mixed with so-called brassica plants, can create a sulfur taste in the mouth that is unpleasant. Brassica plants include broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and a few others.
