Don Hawk named Master Shepherd
The Ohio Sheep Improvement Association (OSIA) on Saturday, December 10 presented the Charles Boyles Master Shepherd Award to Don Hawk of Knox County.
When the turkey business went away in 1998, Hawk began feeding lambs to utilize the facilities. Most of the 4500 head of lambs the Hawk’s feed annually come from the west, which is why Don Hawk would like to see the sheep industry grow in Ohio.
In addition to the Master Shepherd award, Dr. Bill Shulaw was named Friend of the Ohio Sheep Industry and the OSIA presented Distinguished Service Awards to; Dave Burkhart of Alger, Sam Wiford, Wapakoneta, Gregg Fogle, Richwood, Dick Sechrist, Mt. Vernon and Dr. Carrie Pickworth, formerly of the Ohio State University, OARDC.
