Doggett joins Aimpoint Research

The former CEO of the National Corn Growers Association has joined Aimpoint Research in an advisory role.

Jon Doggett tells Brownfield he’s consulting on longer-term policy, food and environmental issues.   

“Looking out 5 to 10 to 15 years in the future: what technologies do we need to keep or advance? How do we go ahead and break down those barriers that keep farmers from having all of the tools they need to produce more with less?”

Doggett uses biologicals in the fertilizer industry as an example.

“Those technologies are fairly new and there’s a multitude of them out there and startups looking at a lot of interesting technologies. What can we do from the farmer perspective to encourage and advance those technologies?”

Doggett says he’s collaborated on reports, including a look at the role of glyphosate in global food production.

 “It’s not so much defending glyphosate as much as it is for saying this what a world without glyphosate could look like,” he says. “For those who don’t like glyphosate for environmental reasons, there’s substantial evidence we will have environmental degradation if we don’t have that tool in the toolbox.”
