Delegation visits fast growing U.S. ag market, South Korea

An agricultural trade delegation from the U.S. is in South Korea this week.

South Korea is one of the fastest growing markets for U.S. ag and food products. Speaking with reporters from Seoul, USDA Foreign Ag Service administrator Ken Isley said those sales totaled seven billion dollars in 2017, up 11 percent from 2016.

“And we expect to end the year of 2018 with another outstanding growth rate, year-over-year,” Isley said.

A major contributor to that growth is beef. From January through September this year, South Korea bought 1.3 billion dollars worth of beef. That’s a new record and more than they bought in all of 2017.
