Dairy products included in Chinese tariff list

An official with the U.S. Trade Representative’s office says the retaliatory tariffs China announced Friday against U.S. products does include American dairy products.  The official, who declined to give her name, told Brownfield the items China announced Friday cover nearly all dairy products.

The list of 25% tariffs includes 21 different dairy categories, including all forms of milk, whey, cheese, butter, buttermilk, and yogurt.

There are two lists issued by the Chinese government, one with 545 U.S. items that will be subject to tariffs July 6th unless agreements are made before then, and another list of 114 U.S. products that might be added to the list of tariffs later.
