Dairy leader reacts to Canada-Mexico trade deal
A dairy cooperative leader is encouraged by the new United States Mexico Canada Agreement on trade.
Tim Trotter is the Executive Director for EDGE Dairy Cooperative. He says, “I think a lot of farmers are going to be extremely pleased with this announcement and it’s going to have long-lasting good impact on American dairy farmers.”
Trotter tells Brownfield the new limited access to Canadian markets is a step forward. “It’s hard sometimes to go out of a market and just jump right back in where you were when you left off. That is yet to be seen but just having the permission to be a player in that market is going to be a huge opportunity for all of us.”
And, he says the elimination of Class 6 and Class 7 pricing and allowing common cheese names to be used in Mexico is very good news for American producers.
