Crops showing moisture stress

Sugarbeet growers wrapped up planting in Michigan last week while dry soils have started to deteriorate crop conditions.

USDA says farmers have also planted 70 percent of corn, 61 percent of soybeans, and 87 percent of oats.  Planting and emergence continues to pace ahead of average.

Winter wheat condition dropped four percent to 67 good to excellent with 89 percent of the crop jointed.  Sugarbeet condition dropped 20 points to 57 percent good to excellent.

Most fruit crops are in bloom and vegetable growers are ahead on transplanting and planting.
