Corn planting on record pace in Indiana

Corn planting continued at a record pace in Indiana last week. The Indiana field office of the National Ag Statistics Service (NASS) says that as of Sunday, May 2, 71 percent of the crop had been planted which is just ahead of the 70 percent planted in 2004. 26 percent of the corn crop has emerged.

21 percent of the soybean crop has been planted, that’s behind the record planting pace set back in 2001 when 28 percent of the crop was planted.

60 percent of the wheat is jointed and 72 percent of the crop is in good to excellent condition.

78 percent of pastures are in good to excellent condition.
