Corn harvest nearing completion for Kentucky farmers

Kentucky farmers continue to make harvest progress.

Corn harvest is 89% complete.  Soybean harvest is 70% complete with 95% dropping leaves.

Tobacco is 55% stripped, with 21% of the housed tobacco in good condition.

Winter wheat is 57% planted, with 33% emerged, and 79% rated good to excellent. 

Pasture conditions are just 30% good to excellent.  While much of the state received decent rains last week, it did little to improve pasture conditions. 

Topsoil was 54% adequate and 2% surplus and subsoil was 48% adequate and 1% surplus.
