Corn harvest 85%, soybean harvest 62% complete in Kentucky

Harvest in Kentucky was making significant progress until weekend rains moved into the state.

Corn harvest is 85% complete. Soybean harvest is 62% complete with 90% dropping leaves. Tobacco 45% stripped, with 43% of the housed tobacco in good to excellent condition.

Winter wheat is 50% planted, with 19% emerged, and 74% rated good to excellent.

Rains will benefit pasture regrowth even as temperatures dip, but conditions are mostly fair. Hay yields have varied this year and some livestock producers have started supplementing hay.

Ahead of the recent rains, topsoil was 46% adequate and 4% surplus and subsoil is 45% adequate and 1% surplus.
