Corn growers eager to see GREET model updates

Updates to the Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions and Energy Use in Technologies or GREET lifecycle model are expected later this week and National Corn Growers Association president Harold Wolle tells Brownfield…

“Ag Secretary Vilsack and EPA Administrator Regan will be at the Commodity Classic on the deadline, March 1, and we’re hopeful they’ll have a positive announcement for us.”

GREET is a lifecycle model that measures the carbon footprint of renewable fuels and modifications to that model could help U.S. agriculture and ethanol producers participate in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel market. Wolle says expanding a top market for U.S. corn is a positive.

“We’ll have to jump through some hoops to get our corn to be the feedstock.”

Brownfield interviewed Wolle at the National Ethanol Conference in San Diego.
