Commodity Classic virtual sessions available through April, registration remains open

If you missed the 2021 Commodity Classic last week, it is not too late to get in on the action.

More than 50 educational sessions premiered during the event will be available to view on demand through April 30th. Anyone can register to view them for $20 and farmers can register for free by March 12th.

Illinois Wheat Association Executive Director Mike Doherty tells Brownfield the virtual format allowed him to participate in the event for the first time this year. He says the opening general session featuring commodity association leaders was one of his favorites.

“National Corn Growers Association’s John Linder made comments on the need to forge new trade agreements and he described that as foundational to the stability of the farmgate. I found those comments very interesting.”

Some other sessions he recommends are “Strategies for Success” featuring Al Kluis and “Keys to Guiding Your Farm Through an Era of Tight Margins and Increased Risk” featuring ag economists from Perdue University including Michael Langemeier.

“He talked about the probability of high and low prices and how the probability of variability in prices is very high.”

The closing session featuring Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack is also available for viewing.
