Combine sales rise, tractors decline in ‘23

A strong ag economy helped drive some farm machinery sales in 2022, according to Curt Blades with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

“If you look at USDA reports on net farm income in 2022 and 2021, the economy is actually turning out to be pretty good,” he said. “I’m well aware the input costs are going up as well, but the total net is turning out to be pretty nicely.”

US combine sales were up nearly 16 percent year-over-year.

He tells Brownfield tractor sales declined but were near the five-year average. “Most of that volume is coming with the under 40-horsepower tractor market.”

Blades says he’s optimistic sales will strengthen in 2023.
